May 2019: Reaffirmation of Commitment to Equal Employment Opportunity

Texas A&M University Health Science Center is committed to providing a positive and inclusive educational and work environment. This means an environment that is conducive to the personal and professional development of each student and employee. The Chief Executive Officers of The Texas A&M System universities, agencies and health science center are responsible for providing an equal opportunity environment, and each system employee is accountable for creating an atmosphere that values and nurtures community, respect and accessibility.

These values mirror those Chancellor John Sharp has expressed regarding his commitment to an equal opportunity environment.

As such, discrimination, sexual harassment or retaliation against any individual on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, veteran status, sexual orientation or gender identity will not be tolerated in admissions or educational programs or in the employment, recruitment, hiring, training and promotions of all faculty and staff.

This includes the prohibition of harassment, intimidation, threats, coercion or discrimination against employees and applicants for employment for having filed a complaint, assisted in an investigation or otherwise exercised their rights.

The Health Science Center is committed to serving the state’s students and citizens through education, research and service. We can best do so with a dynamic and diverse workforce that effectively responds to and represents our constituents.  We will continue to expand our efforts to build on each other’s ideas, expertise, values, styles, expressions, perspectives and experiences.

If you have any questions related to equal opportunity, please direct them to Texas A&M University Chief Compliance Officer Kevin McGinnis by phone at (979) 458-0883 or by email at

I am proud to be a member of our inclusive Health Science Center. Thank you to our faculty, staff and students for their commitment to respect for all persons. It is my firm commitment to ensure that equal opportunity and access will be provided throughout the Health Science Center to all current and prospective students and employees and to the public and the patients we serve. Please join me in this commitment.
