Operation Lone Star Faculty

Operation Lone Star is in its 21st year. It is a joint project of the following: Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS), Cameron County DHHS, City of Laredo Health Department, Hidalgo County HHSD, Hidalgo County Emergency Management, Texas Military Department, Texas State Guard, 139th Med Group (Missouri Air National Guard), Remote Area Medical (RAM), and Texas A&M University Health Science Center.

Participants will:

  • Impact the health of underserved Texans
  • Practice clinical, non-clinical, and interprofessional skills
  • Participate with faculty and students from other HSC and TAMU colleges
  • Work with federal, state, and local health providers

All travel expenses are paid by the participating colleges and the office of the TAMUS Vice Chancellor for Health Services.

Participants will be assigned to one of these 6 locations: Brownsville, Harlingen, San Juan, Mission, Rio Grande City, or Laredo.

The program will take place between July 22-26, with travel dates starting as early as Sunday, July 21 and returning as late as Saturday, July 27.

Participation is limited and the deadline to register is April 26, 2019.
