Dr. Triplett spent 21 years in the US Navy where he completed Internship, Residency training, and Graduate training in Physiology and Biophysics at Georgetown Un. Washing D. C.. He was director of Dental Research At the Naval Medical Research Institute in Bethesda Md.and director of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training at San Diego Naval hospital. Following discharge from the Navy he joined the faculty and was director of residency training at Un. Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Tx. He joined the faculty at Texas A&M Un. College of Dentistry (Formerly Baylor College of dentistry) in 1991 as Chairman of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Assistant Dean for Hospital Affairs.
