David Threadgill, PhD, is a University Distinguished Professor in the Department of Cell Biology and Genetics at the Texas A&M University Naresh K. Vashisht College of Medicine. He is head of the Department of Nutrition in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, holds the Tom and Jean McMullin Chair of Genetics and is the director of the Texas A&M Institute for Genome Sciences and Society.
His research interests focus on cancer genetics, epidermal growth factor receptor, genetics to environmental response including environmental contaminants and diet, and systems genetics resources.
Dr. Threadgill received his Bachelor of Science in zoology from Texas A&M University, and doctorate in genetics from Texas A&M University in 1989.
Following an NIH-funded postdoctoral fellowship at Case Western Reserve University, he became an assistant professor in the Department of Cell Biology at Vanderbilt University in 1996. In 2000 he moved to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he was promoted to professor in the Department of Genetics. In 2008 he moved to North Carolina State University as professor and head of the Department of Genetics before joining Texas A&M in 2013.
