Biography
Andrea Pereira, JD, is the managing counsel for Health Affairs & Privacy at the Office of General Counsel (OGC), providing legal advice and counsel to The Texas A&M University System and its members regarding health care and privacy contractual, regulatory and operational matters. Pereira also serves as the liaison between OGC and Texas A&M Health and its colleges. Pereira provides guidance on a wide range of matters including affiliation agreements with hospitals and health care providers, health care privacy laws, expansion of the research, clinical and educational enterprises, professional service agreements and health care regulatory matters.
Pereira joined the Office of General Counsel in 2010. Prior to that, she was in private practice as a senior associate in the corporate group at Andrews Kurth, LLP in The Woodlands, Texas, where she advised on a wide range of transactional and corporate matters. Previously, she was an associate in the corporate and securities team at Dechert, LLP in Philadelphia, where she advised on complex business and financial transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, securities offerings and public-private partnerships. Pereira holds a JD from Boston College School of Law and Bachelor of Science in foreign affairs and Spanish from the University of Virginia.
