Matthew D. Walton, MPH, serves as assistant vice president of Compliance and Risk Management. Risk management's goal is to control, mitigate and whenever possible eliminate Texas A&M Health's risks. Walton's expertise and growth of his team has provided greater oversight of compliance, privacy and risk for the institution's practice plan, interprofessional educational activities and research.
Class of 1990, Matt earned his Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture from Texas A&M University. After a short six years in the wholesale lumber industry in Dallas, Matt returned to his home town of Bryan, Texas and established a full lines insurance agency, which he owned and operated until 2004 when he joined the Texas A&M System Office of Risk Management. In 2007, Matt began his career with Texas A&M Health to develop its risk management and compliance program. In 2014, Matt earned a Master of Public Health degree from the Texas A&M School of Public Health in health policy management.
